Hello you brave explorers, you,

This week a new world opened up to us, or was it an old world just rebranded? Of course, I’m talking about the new app, Threads, launched and controlled by the alien currently known as Mark Zuckerberg. I immediately downloaded the app, and it felt like showing up to an ABBA concert (an underrated band) way early and running into a few friends. (Oh sweethearts, you know I’m a nerd.) But then, quickly, I realized that I absolutely had been here before. This got me thinking, Carrie Bradshaw style: why do some situations feel brand new, when in reality, we are just repeating ourselves?

As much as we love new experiences, we crave comfort, like Creed XIII (not out yet) or John Wick 4 (very good) or SATC reboot And Just Like That (not good). But the real bravery comes in stepping outside of this comfort, trying something that doesn’t feel like anything we have ever done before, and living to tell the tale.

Many of you know that I will work really hard at things. So no surprise, I work really hard to find new experiences, learn new things, be self aware. But we will always have those blind spots, and we often seek creature comforts. Like I do, watching And Just Like That as soon as it comes out, thinking that I will get a hit of dopamine from Carrie Bradshaw. And just like that, I’m alone with my computer, sans dopamine. At least today, we aren’t alone.
